When an oven has its light on and the fan running, but no heat, it may not be the element

If the element has an appropriate resistance (about 20 ohms in my case) then check whether the fault may be the microswitch operated by opening the door.

On our double oven (Smeg DUSC36X), the main oven element has the live supply switched by the temperature controller, and the neutral switched by the door switch, which is located at the front left-hand corner (ie at the bottom right hand corner of the side panel). And that was what was stopping the oven from working. A quick squirt of WD40 to make the switch operate more easily and a bend of the metal plate that pushes on the microswitch, and all is working again. Christmas lunch rescued!
