Neff Dishwasher - loose white plastic piece in pump well

My Neff dishwasher wouldn't pump out. I found this in the pump well:

It looked broken. Where had it come from, and could I mend it?

In fact it was fine, and clipped straight back. But how?

The part is marked 0434 on the exploded diagram for the pump (described as "lid" 00611322) - a white plastic part which may look like it has broken off something - there is one curved section that is not a beautiful smooth curve, but that turns out to be poor mould-making, not a sign that you have broken something.

You should already have removed the filter and basket, and this bit will be sitting in the bottom of the "well" (the bit that the filter drum fits into). Pump or ladle out any remaining water until you can see what looks like a large cog wheel at about 5 o'clock as you look down on the well. This white plastic "lid" protects that cog (the impeller) and is fitted with the long pointy bit at the top. It slides downward and clicks into position.

Good luck!
